The Opponent-process Theory: about Opposites

This gallery contains 2 photos.

“To God everything is beautiful, good, and just; humans, however, think some things are unjust and others just.” – Heraclitus of Ephesus, Greek philosopher and cosmologist, 540-480BC In my last post I mentioned the opponent process theory. It’s a curious … Continue reading

How is Less More? The impact of Lighting a Scene

This gallery contains 5 photos.

There is, specifically, magic in an image, maybe in any image if the viewer looks the right way. It comes (for lack of my ability to express it more clearly) from the ability of the image to hold an entire … Continue reading

A Round A Moon

Watching the July 4 fireworks, there seemed a whole life revolving around the lone moon: not so circular and isolated after all.

For me, there is a great deal of truth, and longing, to an idea I call interlacing, which is the inter-relatedness of things. To some degree, interlacing is a matter of perspective. Here, I choose to see my moon as interlaced with life on Earth. But at another level, the more I look to see examples of interlacing, the inter-relationship and interdependence of things, I find it is actually there. Whether human relationships or ecosystems, I find it out in the world.
